Mission
To educate and inspire the people of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills to take action that will make our communities more environmentally healthy and vibrant today and for future generations.
How we accomplish our mission
We have four program areas: Water, Watts (energy), Waste and Walk or Wheel (WoW!). Collectively, they provide residents of our communities with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their choices in every day life.
Four Programs With Local Benefits
Through our 4 key programs – Water | Waste | Watts | WoW – we’ve pulled off a wealth of events, talks, seminars and incentive programs. With actions that delivered results. And we’re not done yet!
With your help, we can do more good in the future.
Water (Save More)
Drought saving tips and GreyWater installation seminars are among the events GreenTown produces. Want to get involved? Email us.
Waste (Make Less)
From securing Mission Trail Waste for 78% diversion rate to ensuring recycling options at local events, we’re all over generating less waste, repurposing, reusing and recycling. Want to get involved? Email us.
Watts (All Things Energy)
From encouraging installing solar panels to learning about LED lighting, we’re building knowledge to encourage action when it comes to being “watts wise”. Want to get involved? Email us.
WoW! (Walk or Wheel)
Whether it’s reducing single occupant vehicle trips or encouraging students to bike to school, we’re driving this one home! Want to get involved? Email us.
Vision
The residents of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills make decisions about land use, water, energy and waste that are informed by an understanding of their environmental impacts — both locally and how those impacts affect the overall health of the planet. Los Altos and Los Altos Hills are economically vital, and are models of effective citizen action, enlightened public programs and policies, and informed land, energy, water and waste decisions. By measurably reducing our waste, energy and water use, our communities will continue to be one of California’s most desirable places to live and work.
