On June 24, from 3-5 PM, Greentown Los Altos and the Los Altos History Museum join with partners Transition Palo Alto, Slow Food South Bay, Canopy and the Silicon Valley Permaculture Guild for our second annual Los Altos Edible Tree Walk. We’ll walk a short loop around a shady downtown neighborhood, starting and ending at the Civic Center, including a visit to Los Altos’ historic apricot orchard. We’ll stop frequently to gaze up at trees that have some edible part, learning about the trees from multiple perspectives, including arborist/botanist, chef, permaculturist, historian and policy wonk. It’s a fun way to learn about some of your more unassuming neighbors while getting a little exercise with some like-minded souls. Be sure to RSVP as these walks generally fill up. Please contact Kris Jensen (kris@greentownlosaltos.org) with any questions.
